These are the ratings that we use for our hard judgement of the material we recieve or buy for our reviews. We use a scale from zero (0) to six (6) - zero being the lowest and six being the best.

We rate most products in three categories:
I   Usefulnes and facilities
II  Quality of workmanship
III Price and performance

These three add up to one average which expresses the value of the product. Products like books and videos are only given one score on the same scale:

Stinks - don't touch it!
Products which are absolutely useless and which we cannot recommend. This is not a grade we use very often.

Not good - can be ignored
A product which basically is lousy, but might be found useful by a few people - the rest of us can just ignore it.

Global class - Brilliant!
This is an outstanding product which will be the envy of your fly fishing and fly tying friends. It's the best that money can buy - and it can cost a lot of money, even though it doesn't have to.

C&F tube body tool

The C&F extended tube body tool is more than two darning needles in a fancy holder. If you - like Dutch Henk Verhaar - like doing it yourself, this might be worth looking into. The flies tied with extended bodies can become very realistic and still be simple to tie.

S&L's Lost Flies

Dick Stewart and Bob Leeman's book "Trolling Flies for Trout and Salmon" has inspired fly tyers for the 24 years since it's publication in 1982. Here, finally, we get to see some of the patterns listed in the back of the book that did not have supporting photographs.
